DAY TEN | INNER HAPPINESS

"Any fool can be happy when times are good. It takes a strong soul with real heart to develop smiles out of situations that make us weep." 

I wrote this blog post 5 years ago and it’s CRAZY to think about how much I have grown since then. But I will just add to it and all that I have learned over a breakup with a relationship I was in for 13 years, and let me tell you. THAT SHIT BROKE ME!!! Even though I was the one who ended the relationship… I was broken to my core. I wanted that relationship to work out so bad! It was all I wanted and on the outside looking in… it was the healthiest relationship you could ever imagine. But that was far from the truth. And do you know why? Because I was the one who was hurting inside. I was the one who was broken. I was the one who had the low self esteem. And I was the one who didn’t feel worthy enough of a beautiful partnership. And so my story goes on and you will learn all about how I was able to mend myself as you read my blog posts from here on out.


We have two choices.

We can choose to be happy or we can choose to be miserable. I know. I know. You are probably thinking I’m full of shit and that that is easier said than done. But it’s true. If you can learn to live in the present moment and not live in the past or the present. You CAN choose which reality you want to live in.

How do we live in the present moment you ask???

MEDIATION.

Have you tried it? If not, I highly advise you do!!! If you don’t know where to begin let me just tell you to contact my beautiful friend and lifetime coach, Veronica Barragan, who has taught me all I need to know in such a short amount of time. And I wish I had someone like her to teach me this YEARS ago, when I was so lost. I thank God for this beautiful soul. She has taught me about living in the present moment. How to detach from emotions that tie me down. And hold me back from moving forward. I have been working on Low Self Esteem, Discipline and Consistency. And those three things are crucial to me growing as a woman in this world of mine.

And don’t get me wrong… I do know all about depression, because that runs in my family, so I highly suggest an amazing therapist to help you internally with that, Julie Denise on IG at Therapy with Julie, is an AHHHMAZING woman to go to and if you are into hypnotherapy then, Jillian Holper ,is your girl!!!!! I understand we are all working at different levels of trauma and inner peace.

For so long I have allowed myself to live in fear. Because I was emotionally abused as a teenager in a relationship that I was in. It literally paralyzed me. All I hear are his words in my mind about how unworthy I am. How I will never amount to anything, how I will never be successful, how I will never impact anyone’s life, how I will never be in a loving relationship with a man, how I will never make it in life or ever full fill my dreams.

If someone is constantly telling you this….. YOU WILL START TO BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our mind can be a beautiful or an evil thing.

Can you image what you will do with your life when you constantly feed it good things? Good words? Inspiring words? Positive words? Loving words? Empowering words????????

You can change your thoughts in just ONE SECOND. Just image a negative thought entering your mind. Go ahead. I’m sure that comes easily to you. Ok now….. image grabbing that ugly, nasty thought and crumpling it up like a piece of paper and throwing it in a garbage can. And then fill that thought with a positive one. Just image that. As silly as that sounds. DO IT. And then smile. Take in 4 deep breaths. No seriously. Do it right now. Stop what you are doing and take in a DEEP breath. I’ll wait for you to do so. Ok now. Suck that breath in for 4 seconds. Hold it for 6 seconds. Annnnnnnnd now let it out for 8 seconds. Blow it out until there is nothing left inside to blow out.

Now repeat that 4 times.

How do you feel? Grounded? Present? Calm? Peaceful? In control? Ohhhhhhhhhhh I know you are feeling all of those things…. because that is what I learned in my inner healing kundalini meditation course. I learned all about breathing and living in the present moment. It’s a beautiful thing. Inner peace. IS. A. BEAUTIFUL. THING.

There will be times in our lives where things don't go as planned. People who have hurt you and have chosen to walk away. Situations where life gives you difficult and confusing scenarios and leaves you drowning in a puddle of tears and unforgettable sorrow. Broken hearts, lovers quarrels, loved ones passing, loneliness, financial stress, crushed dreams. The list goes on and on.

You can choose to let these situations get the best of you and dwell on them. Or you can learn from it and choose to walk forward in a better light. I've been to that place of darkness. Where I have dug myself in a hole so deep, I didn't ever think I would find my way out. Lost in a sea of emptiness. And it’s not pretty. I won't ever visit that place again.

So every single time, I. CHOOSE. HAPPINESS. No matter what situation comes my way. I cry. Oh I cry me a river until my body is weak from exhaustion and then I decide to just let it go.

It's never an easy choice to let go of something or someone that eats at your soul. As a matter a fact, it shatters your heart into a million pieces but it’s the only way to survive. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Keep your head up. When one door closes another one opens. Be hopeful and try and find beauty in the ugliest days.
